Introduction

NuGum L is a specially processed, water-washed natural smectite product,

supplied as a white powder free from grit and non-swellable ore. It’s a useful, economical grade for a wide range of applications: pharmaceutical, cosmetic, personal care,veterinary, agricultural, household and industrial products.

NuGum L conforms to the EP monograph for Aluminium Magnesium Silicate.

Functional Use

A suspending agent, viscosifier, binder and emulsion stabilizer. NuGum L has high swelling capacity and good suspension performance in water. Used whenever a white, inorganic, thixotropic thickening material is desired for formulations. It’s effective in acidic, neutral and alkaline systems.

Uses

NuGum L is easily wetted by water. Increases of shear, water temperature and mixing time will accelerate the dispersion and provide better hydration. It should be added to water at the initial dispersion phase prior to other ingredients. Agitating at maximum available shear for 10-15 minutes until fully hydrated. Optimal performance depends on complete hydration. Typical use levels are between 0.5% and 3%.

Practically insoluble in water and in organic solvents.
